Maths investigations

This week in Wheat we have been investigating different ways to make 6 and displaying these as part whole models - year 2 had seen this model before but it was year 1s first time! Everyone completed their investigation with Numicon and enjoyed becoming mathematicians.
Messy Thursday

This morning we have had a messy morning in Wheat class, finding numbers in shaving foam and practicing number formation in rice and chia seeds, messy play is always a crowd pleaser!!
Trip to Carymoor Environmental Trust
Friday 6th October: We had such an amazing day at Carymoor Environmental Trust today! The children got stuck into creating dens, team building, orienteering and even roasting marshmallows! We also had quail eggs to protect throughout the day, unfortunately they didn’t all make it out in one piece… The children were a credit to our school today, so incredibly proud of them all!
Messy Thursday - 12/10/23
This morning in messy Thursday we found numbers in waterbeads to add together, we also practiced our number formation with play dough!!
On the other side of the room encounter lines of symmetry with mirrors and discovered and made our own food chains.
Learning about our bodies

We have been focussing on non-fiction writing in English this week and have learnt about labelling diagrams to add information. We created our own diagrams by drawing round someone in our group and worked together to label different parts of the body!
Messy Thursdays - 19/10

In messy Thursday this week we had a big focus on phonics, we organised pictures according to their sounds, we picked letters for gaps in words, we also continued to develop our number formation
Fruit Kebabs!
In DT we made fruit kebabs! The children planned their kebabs, made them and then evaluated their creations. They loved seeing their plans come to life and I had lots of reports that they were well received at home!
