Hello and welcome to Hops Class.
We are the Year 5/6 class at Milton on Stour Primary School.
Our teacher is Miss Swaine, our HLTA is Mrs. Hasted and our TA is Mrs. Bristow.
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday (from 26th April).
Our Forest Power day is Tuesday.
14th July 2021 - Year Six had a great day exploring Stourhead
We’ve had a fantastic week in Hops Class this week. We have been learning more about the Victorians, especially the naturalist Charles Darwin. In Science this week, we combined art and science making botanical drawings in Darwin’s style. Mr. White helped us to take some cuttings so we could see how plants can be forced to reproduce.
Year Five enjoyed their first swimming session and we enjoyed learning about the rules of Kosher food in RE.
We had fun problem solving, trying to make the biggest total on the tower.

Welcome back to the Summer Term, I hope you had a safe and enjoyable Easter Holiday. We have an action packed term planed focusing on our topic of the Victorians and their Inventions.
Here is some information detailing what we will be covering in this term.
Our PE days are changing as of 26th April - PE kit needs to be worn on Monday and Wednesday. Swimming for Year 5 will be on Monday and Year 6 will have a games session.
It has been another fun week of learning in Hops Class. We have continued to read Holes and found out more about the Yellow Spotted Lizard. We have also created some periscopes in Science and thought about how light is reflected.
We have been completing our wellbeing activities to help us stay positive.
It has been lovely to welcome most of you back in person and to keep in touch via Teams with those that can't be here.
This week has been a really busy week but you have all worked hard and settled into the school routines again. Well done on great first week back where you have mastered algebra, planted a plant to nurture and created some drama around the characters' thoughts in Holes.
Happy New Year. I wish I was welcoming you back to school in person but I'll see you soon on Teams.
