This half term we are reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, We're going on a Bear hunt, The Queens knickers, and What the Ladybird heard.
We went on our first School trip to the theatre and we are working on the character skill of independence.
Next half term we will be reading Commotion in the Ocean, Julian is a mermaid, The Selfish Crocodile, A handful of buttons and The Smeds and the Smoos.
We will be going on a School trip to an aquarium and we will be working on the character skill of articulation and oracy.

Last week we were reading Julian is a mermaid and used that text to create lots of fun learning activities.
In our role play area we created some beautiful outfits to express ourselves.
We also used our phonics knowledge to write descriptions of some of the characters in the book.
In forest school we collected leaves, twigs and nuts to create our own head dresses like Julian.

Today we had family learning, our family members came in to help us make lovely CD fish.
Sealife centre class trip!

Last Thursday we went on a class trip to the Sealife Centre, we got to see lots of sea creatures, we saw animals being fed and we even got to touch a live starfish. We had a lovely day.

Commotion in the Ocean

This week we have been reading Commotion in the Ocean and learning about and reading poems.
We have been taking part in lots of fun activities.
In PE we have been doing athletics and we are getting prepared for sports day!
Our outdoor role-play area turned into a deep sea diving area and we explored it and wrote about what we found lurking in the deep, dark sea.
Our indoor role-play area became an aquarium.
We have also been learning about how to keep our oceans clean, and why it is important to keep the oceans clean and the creatures safe.
The Queens Knickers

Last week we read The Queens Knickers, this served as a great stimulus for our class discussion on NSPCC PANTS.
We built London landmarks using blocks, we also used Lego and used tracing paper to draw the building outlines.
We decorated our own pants, using collage and paint. We also decorated our own 'VIP' (Very Important Pair) like the Queen had, we decorated these using a choice of collage, paint and colouring.
We used our role play area to dress up as royalty, we also had lots of fun performing plays for children in the class.
We had posh Tea parties, and followed written instructions in our mud kitchen to make cakes.
Coronation celebrations

On Friday we celebrated the Coronation with lots of fun activities.
We made ourselves beautiful crowns and had cake in the hall.

Air Ambulance- Maize class had a special visit from Chris who came to talk to us about what the air ambulance do.
The children in Maize have been doing a fantastic job learning their number bonds to 10.
This week is Gruffalo week. The children have been doing puppet shows to re-enact the story as well as making Gruffalo crumble and describing the other characters.

This weeks text is called Oliver”s Vegetables- the children have been doing some great role play, fine motor skills and planting.
Maize had a special visitor last week from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire service who came to talk to them about fire safety.
Last week the children created different animals but they needed to have 8 features ie. 8 legs or 8 eyes.
Three little pigs continued... continuous provision.
Maize class enjoyed their music session this afternoon looking at different ways to stop and start.

Maize class had a great morning at Orchard park this morning. They had the most delicious breakfast with Santa 🎅
The children have been looking at long and short this week and have been making paper chains and comparing them.
The children have really enjoyed our role play this week. They have been playing the characters from the Birth of Jesus Story and using the nativity from last week to support them.
The children have been learning to add and take away 1 and a pair using a washing line from the story ‘Washing Line’
The children in Maize class built some fantastic bridges for the three goats for their text last week.
Last week we got a great opportunity to sit round the fire pit and listen to a story. Mr White told us some great fire and smoke facts.
PCSO came to visit Maize class yesterday to talk about how to be safe on the roads and how they help people.
RE- The children were learning about how precious ‘God’’s name is and then the children decorated their own names.
