Hops Class

Hello and welcome to Hops Class. Our teacher is Miss Swaine and our HLTA is Mrs. Hasted.
Welcome back to Milton and welcome to Hops Class.
We have had a fantastic first few days back. We have been looking at the book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse and thinking about the messages it contains. We have created some positivity maps about ourselves and some symmetrical drawings.

WOW Well done Everybody, we have made it through the year. It's the final day of the academic year 2019-2020. It's been a bit of an unusual school year but we survived and all deserve a big pat on the back. I have enjoyed being your teacher this year and have really missed seeing you everyday.

Year Fives I look forward to being your teacher again in September, we will have an amazing year. You have been amazing this year and have all coped brilliantly with the lockdown and home learning.

Year Sixes it's your last day at Milton! How the year has flown. You are all wonderful individuals and I wish you all the best for your next adventure. Keep smiling and being the very best you can be. I will miss each and everyone of you. Thank you for being an amazing first class at Milton. I look forward to seeing you at our leavers party - don't forget shirts to sign (you don't need to wear uniform).

Thank you also to all your parents and carers, who have provided outstanding support to you all this year, both through your time in school and teaching you at home. Well done - enjoy the break as much as the children. You too are all wonderful.

With very best wishes and big hugs (socially distanced)

Good Morning Everyone, I hope you are fit and well. This week in school we have found out about the Olympics and watched the opening ceremony from 2012, when the Olympics was in London. It is on YouTube if you'd like a look - Barley Bubbled liked the Mr. Bean part and the part with James Bond and the Queen. Good Morning Everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. We are learning about British Values for our theme this week. The fundamental British Values are democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Good Morning Hops Class, another bright and sunny day. I hope you are enjoying finding out about the 1970s. We found a space hopper at school yesterday, a very popular 1970s toy, it provided much hilarity in the afternoon, especially as quite a few people spent more time on the floor than on the hopper. So today's daily challenge is to have a bounce. It could be on a space hopper, trampoline or pogo stick. Have some fund outside.

Good Morning Everyone, I hope you had an enjoyable half term break. The weather was lovely so Gravy and I spent a lot of time in the garden.

Planning for this term looks a little different to previous weeks, as we are using a themed approach to learning, we are giving you more choice of the activities you complete. The theme for the next two weeks is art. Hops Learning this week is based on the Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh. There are five maths activities to complete - I have suggested an order but you may complete them in whichever order you like. English and topic ones you can select the ones that interest you the most.

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had an enjoyable bank holiday weekend - I got a bit confused by the days and kept thinking Friday was Saturday! This week should be SATS week and its not quite the same as normal. For some of you the test cancellation brings relief while to others it brings a sense of disbelief because of how hard you have worked. I just want to reassure all of you that we know how hard you tried with everything and to let you know how proud we are of all of you. Tests don't measure everything you learn and many skills that you all have cannot be measured by a test. At Milton we never needed to test to tell us all how amazing you are. Good Morning Hops Class, I hope you are all okay and managing a keep active. Will anyone be outside at 8pm tonight clapping for the NHS and key workers? Keep sending in the pictures of your amazing work, I'm enjoying looking at it all and I'm trying hard to reply to as many emails as I can. Today's challenge is the cardboard tube challenge - make a character from a storybook on a cardboard tube (or turn the tube into the character). If you haven't got a cardboard tube, make a cyclinder from paper.  I can't wait to see your creations - email me your pictures please.

Pinch, punch, first of the month Hops Class! Hoping that you are all okay. Today's daily challenge - draw a picture of something that makes you smile. Send me a picture so I can put it on the website to make other people smile. You could even put it in your window to make people smile on a walk.

Home Learning - 30th March

Tuesday, 31st March 2020

Good Morning Hops, I hope you are all okay. Today's daily challenge is to find something in your house starting with every letter of the alphabet. All the items you collect must fit on a dinner plate though! I look forward to seeing photos of your plates.

Good Morning Hops Class, hope you had a good weekend and are ready for another great week of challenges and home learning. Today's daily challenge is to learn/ improve some life skills so I'd like you to learn to use a household appliance - could be the washing machine, hoover, lawn mower - something you've never used before. Make sure you have supervision doing it. I'd love to see any photographs.

Good Morning Hops Class, hope you are all okay. I'm really enjoying seeing pictures of all your work and receiving your emails - keep them coming. I'll try and put as many on the website as I can. Gravy has given me the inspiration for today's daily challenge  - I keep finding him in strange places (like the bottom of the wardrobe and under the washing line!) - so I'd like you to build a den (outside or inside) using whatever materials your parents will let you and have some fun in it. Send me a picture of you in it, (maybe with your pet in they are agreeable!).

Take care

Good Morning Hops Class. I hope you are all keeping busy and well. I'm really enjoying seeing all the work you are producing. I'll try to put some of it on the website today so you can all see the great home learning. The sun is shining again so fingers crossed it will be another great day of learning. Here is today's challenge - as an act of kindness make a hot drink for someone at home (not yourself!). Make sure you are being supervised when using kettles, saucepans etc. Take a picture of you and the drinker of  your drink - I'd love to see your kindness in action.

Good Morning Hops Class. I hope you are all staying safe and trying your best with your home learning. I thought I'd set you a little extra challenge today. I'd like you to write a list of ten things you are grateful for. Hope it makes you smile.

From Miss Swaine

Recently, in Collective Worship we heard that the rainbow is a sign of hope. Paint or draw a picture of a rainbow and put it up in a window in your home so that when people are out for a walk they can look for rainbows.
