Oats Class
Hello and welcome to Oats Class. We are a mixed Year 2/3 class and love learning. Our teacher is Miss Swaine and our TA's are Miss Hirst, Miss May, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Monks and Mrs. Barker.
Our topic this term is Happily Ever After, which looks at castles, monarchs of Britain and stories that end happily. Here is the termly overview
19th July 2022 - we used Starburst to investigate the different way rocks were formed.
18th July - Project Day, a royal banquet and speeches about the trip to Old Wardour Castle
12th July 2022 - Oats Class had fun making sock puppet dragons as part of our Family Learning
8th July 2022 - we investigated shadow changes throughout the day.
4th July 2022 - we had fun measuring capacity using ml.
1st July 2022 Oats and Year 4 had a great time in our music workshop today with Jack and Ellie from B Sharp.
28th June 2022 - we had fun in art learning how to weave.
22nd June 2022 we had a great time visiting Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery, learning about the artist Henry Moore
7th April - Our Welly Walk. We held a welly walk to fundraise for Wateraid.
6th April 2022 - Family Learning. We designed and built shelters to survive extreme weather.
5th April 2022 - Easter Experience in church. We learnt about the Easter Story and talked about the experience of Jesus
28th March - RE Day we acted out the Eastern story and thought about what people would feel and say at different points.
24th March 2022 - We made heart collages out of natural materials for Mothering Sunday
23rd March - we learnt about heat waves and made infomercials about how to stay safe in the sun.

14th - 18th March. Science Week - we thought about magnets and made out own magnetic game.
15th March 2022 - We have been using our understanding of shape properties to build shapes.
10th March - Year 3 Have been finding right angles
9th March 2022 - Lots of experimenting with Alice the scientist
8th March - One week old chicks come to visit
4th March 2022 - An excellent team building day at Carey Camp for Year 3 and 4.
3rd March 2022 - We investigated symmetry by folding shapes
17th February 2022 - Making rangoli patterns out of natural materials

8th February 2022 - Children's Mental Health Week. We thought about how to grow our resilience
4th February 2022 - A visit from the fire engine
3rd February 2022- using our knowledge of materials we built a waterproof shelter.

22nd November - This week we were shop keepers and made change
25th November 2021 - We used construction materials to build models of London landmarks
Reading Week - We enjoyed stories around the fire pit.
5th November 2021 - Fabulous family learning. We learnt about the Houses of Parliament and Guy Fawkes. We made Guys with our families
22nd October - We had fun learning tennis skills.
18th October - We had a visit from Paul the Baker, he showed us how to make bread like they did during the Great Fire of London
16th October - We had a visit from Max's ducks
13th October - The Great Fire of Milton. We made houses and built Pudding Lane in the fire pit. Mr. White helped us to set it alight so we could see how the fire break worked.
12th October - We have been learning about food chains
We are reading James and the Giant Peach. We tried some peaches to help write our descriptions
The Great Fire of London - We imagined what it was like putting out the fire and getting water
We had a visit from Annabelle's Chicks
30th September - we had fun in Forest Power making forest friends
24th September 2021 - Problem Solving counting in 5s.
21st September 2021 - We looked for creatures in microhabitats and then made a pictogram to show our findings.
Habitat Hunting - we looked for habitats in the school grounds.
We made our own version of Pudding Lane in Forest Power.
